An empty house can represent a desire to be more independent, or feelings of isolation and insecurity.  A home that has been burglarized is a sign that you have been feeling vulnerable.  A haunted house means that you need to deal with feelings that you have been repressing.  A house that is still being constructed is a sign that you are working on yourself mentally.  Cleaning a house is a sign that you desire to improve yourself and are getting rid of old thoughts.
